The Best Hairstyles And Hair Trends To Try In 2025
Ghost Waves
While embracing your natural texture will always be 'in', these wispy waves were ready-made for hair types with a subtle, natural movement (we're looking at you 2A curl patterns).
'Ghost waves are barely there waves that undulate in a soft ‘s’ shape rather than spirals or coils,' says hairstylist Tom Smith. 'An unexpectedly relaxed style for spring that can also be achieved with one’s natural texture if it falls into waves rather than coils.'
As seen as Zimmermann and Chloé at Paris Fashion Week, you can emphasise your natural shape using a diffuser, or cheat the look by using a straightener to create gentle, alternating curves in the hair.
Embellished Braids
Marine Serre, Enfants Richés Deprimes and Antonio Marras were all amongst the AW25 shows showcasing jewellery adorned braids this fashion season. Whether it's a selection delicate hair pins, a series of stylish cuffs or a single maximalist clip, if there's one takeaway from this season's number one hair accessories trend, it's that more is definitely merrier when it comes to metallics.
Trixie Cuts
Sporting a slightly grown-out pixie 'do? There's no better way to style it in 2025 than with an shaggy, undone finish; enter, the Trixie (textured pixie) cut.
'With influences of the iconic pixie, this soft, textured version is a great option for those who dare to change their look. It’s a gentle, grown-up version of the timeless crop with wispy edges for a lived-in feel,' says Cos Sakkas, British Hairdresser of the Year and Toni & Guy Global Creative Director.
French Micro-Fringe
Fresh from the front row of Paris Fashion Week, you'll struggle to find a striking style more appealing than the fluffy French micro-fringe. A cross between the coveted French bob and the graphic micro-bangs, this effortlessly tousled take on a shorter fringe is a must-try for those seeking an undone 'cool girl' cut that doesn't veer to Sci-Fi.
If you're feeling extra daring, try it with a set of edgy bleached brows, as seen at Ujoh AW25.
Square Bobs
You may think that having fine hair limits your options when it comes to engaging in trends, but if there's anything we've learned this year, it's that a blunt bob can work for everyone - including those with thinner strands.
A square bob follows a similar vein, but works better for those with super-straight veering locks. Sharp, graphic and incredibly classic, it has a geometric silhouette that is perfect for emphasising sharper jawlines.
Disco Curls
Looking to the runway for your 2025 curly hair inspiration? You'll quickly learn that a side-parting is an essential aspect of the look. The next is volume, volume, volume.
As seen at Isabel Marant and Burc Akyol Paris, '80s reminiscent disco curls (think maximum body and bounce, slightly brushed out finish, and tucked away strands behind one ear) are the ultimate way to wear long waves and big curls in 2025. The best part? A little frizz only amplifies the effortless drama of this look.
Seventies Fringes
In 2025, long hair is still everywhere (just look at the anti-bob trend), but it's essential to keep it fresh, says hairstylist Sam McKnight.
'Consider a fringe, or some choppy layers to sit alongside your cheekbones,' he says. 'Take inspiration from 70’s rock- starlets Debbie Harry, Stevie Nicks and cool girl Jane Birkin’s brow- skimming bangs and Marianne Faithful’s choppy cheekbone layers. This look is all about effortlessly cool texture and definition. Nourish and define with my Happy Endings and enhance texture with a few mists of my Cool Girl Barely There Texture Mist for that undone, done finish.'
Crimp Prints
Crimping your hair might seem a little juvenile, but Chet Lo's AW25 take on the style is proved its nothing if not modern - when done correctly. Rather than committing to a full head of zip-zag prints, try adding a few stampings throughout pin-straight hair. It gives a fascinating, editorial look that never appears too childish (or too dated). Just remember, never brush these patterns out; you'll be left with major frizz.
